‘Most Informative’ Goes to Pharma Exposé
In Money talks: Profits Before Patient Safety medical community heavy-hitters expose how the industries marketing tactics and powerful relationships affect today’s healthcare system. The 50-minute documentary features interviews with notable experts, including Harvard’s Dr. John Abramson, author of Overdo$ed America, Columbia University’s Dr. Bob Goodman, founder of the ‘No Free Lunch’ program and Dr. Jerome Hoffman of UCLA Medical School.
Money Talks: Profits Before Patient Safety is filmmaker Kathleen Slattery-Moschkau’s and producer Holly Mosher’s second film about the issues within the pharmaceutical industry. Their debut feature, Side Effects, was a fictional treatment of writer/director Slattery-Moschkau’s decade working as a sales rep for two of the nation’s top drug companies. Side Effects, starring Katherine Heigl of Grey’s Anatomy, is an award winning and internationally acclaimed film.
The filmmakers, whose motto is “to educate through entertainment,” hope both films encourage people to think more about what they put into their bodies and consider alternative options when possible – prevention before prescriptions.
